Championing business skills for talented engineers and scientists

Champion of Champions Competition

Each autumn, the Champion of Champions competition brings together top students from EIBF-funded university enterprise contests, giving them a chance to showcase their innovations on a national stage – and win even bigger prizes.

Entrants are invited to present an innovative idea that solves a problem in society. This can be the same idea entered into the university competition, or a brand-new idea.

As with the university level competitions, entrants must be engineers, computer science or biomedical students or be multi-disciplinary teams that include at least one of those eligible participants.

How to Enter

Champion of Champions Competition

This year’s Champion of Champions Competition is open to all eligible students who participated in an EIBF-funded competition at their university in 2024/25. Entrants do not need to have won their competition.

Judges will be scoring entrants on:

  • The originality of the idea
  • How the idea addresses a need in society
  • Clearly defined target audiences and the benefits of the innovation
  • Viability of the idea and how well this is communicated
  • How effectively the business idea is presented in the entry materials

Entrants are not required to prepare a financial statement or budget.

Entrants must submit:

A video explaining their innovation. The maximum length should be four minutes.

A Business Model Canvas setting out their business model. This A2-sized document should be landscape in format and include the names of the team involved as well as the email address of the team leader. Examples can be found on YouTube.

An A2-sized poster promoting the innovation. Again, this must be A2 in size. If shortlisted, this poster will be on display during the grand final.

While not mandatory, entrants are welcome to use images of their innovation in their submissions.
