WE Innovate

WE Innovate is a five-month programme running from January to June. The programme supports the development of up to 25 teams through masterclasses, business coaching, one to one expert support, peer mentoring and much more. There are three phases during which 25 teams become a final five who then compete for a chance to win a share of the total £30,000 prize fund.

FIRST PLACE: OMNIHUMAN

Project:

Stroke recovery is a lifelong process that requires consistent rehabilitation. However, up to 80% of stroke survivors stop exercising because exercises are tedious, boring, and repetitive. Fine motor rehab is the least tackled area, as it comes at the end of the process and suffers from the lack of clinicians to support the patient, from his discharge from the hospital to private clinics and to home training.

Omnihuman leverages soft robotics, virtual reality, and music therapy to promote stroke survivors' exercise adherence. It uses music notes as a stimulus to trigger finger movement, helping to re-establish neural pathways between the visual and motor cortex. Collecting data remotely, it enables clinicians to follow their patients and adapt their exercises

Students:

  • Lucie Legrandois - Innovation Design Engineering
  • Orion Dai Yuhui - Innovation Design Engineering

Awarded: £3,000

POSITIVE FEEDBACK

“The EEIBF Prize has been a transformative boost for Omnihuman, enabling them to take critical next steps in developing their prototypes and preparing for clinical studies. Support like this is invaluable in helping our student founders transition from academic innovation to real-world impact. The mentorship offered will provide strategic guidance as they navigate the early stages of their entrepreneurial journey.”
